Overview

This indicator employs swing-point analysis. A delay of N bars is necessary for a swing to be identified. Consequently, the appearance of a swing point is postponed by N bars, where N = 10 by default for precise identification (with N being at least 1). However, this delay is not a significant issue due to the long-term impact of the support/resistance, often extending over tens or even hundreds of bars.

How can we capture a swing high at its pinnacle? Only after observing more bars without a further increase in price can we confirm it as a swing high.

The swing point, which serves as the cornerstone of our best-selling Divergence Engine$, is at the heart of this indicator. It assists in calculating and delineating S/R zones. The indicator identifies qualified swing points and groups them by proximity to form an S/R zone. Depending on the selected data mode, a zone’s value is presented either in terms of cumulative swing strength or by the total number of points. Ultimately, multiple zones stack up, resembling a volume profile. As a result, it’s a fresh take, yet it will feel familiar to most traders.

You’ll be amazed, just as we were, when you initially apply this indicator to your chart and witness the influence of those swing points in creating the S/R zones. For such a simple concept, the effectiveness surpasses imagination. These zones represent areas where the market often seeks rest, experiences rebounds, and undergoes reversals. Like real radar, it assists traders in navigating the market to identify an opportune position or simply warns them of potential choppy movements ahead.

Support/Resistance Radar offers two data types for you to select from:

1. SwingStrength: In this mode, “Strength” indicates how far the price rebounds from the swing price, akin to how a radar’s waves bounce off objects. The cumulative strength of points within a zone signifies the value of that zone.
2. SwingCount: In this mode, the number of points within a zone signifies the value of that zone.
